NUTRIENT APPLICATION AND IPM

Chart 1 - NUTRIENT APPLICATION AREAS (GRAPH)

TOOL TIP -1. Chart 1, titled "Golf Course Nutrient Application," illustrates the distribution of Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P2O5), and Potassium (K2O) across different golf course areas, based on survey responses. 2. To analyze specific subsets, utilize the dropdown menus to specify options including: * State: Choose a specific state or defaults to "ALL." * Nutrient Type: Focus on individual nutrients (N, P2O5, K2O, or ALL). * Application Area: Focus on areas like fairways, greens, etc. * Region: Focus on specific regions within New York. * Course Ownership: Filter by course type (e.g., daily fee, military, private). 3. The bar lengths in the horizontal bar chart indicate the number of respondents who reported applying a given nutrient to a specific area. Longer bars mean more respondents reported that application. Note that the chart represents the number of survey respondents that apply the specified nutrients in the areas of the golf course, not necessarily the quantity of nutrients.

Chart 2 - NUTRIENT APPLICATION AREAS (DATA)

In Chart number two, titled Nutrient Application Areas Data, you will find the number of surveys as a percent and the total quantity and percent who responded to the questions. For example, fairways show the percentage of those who answered the question said that they apply K, Potassium, to the fairways. For another example, those that survey natural areas only had one survey come back by less than one percent. The balance did not answer, so the percentage is adjusted. You can sort by region, course type, application area, and nutrient type.

Chart 3 - IPM TOP 3 PESTS (GRAPH)

This chart shows the results of the survey asking respondents to identify their top three pests on golf courses. Each bar represents the number of respondents who included that particular pest in their top three. You can filter the results by state, region, course ownership type, or specific pest using the dropdown menus above the chart. Hover over each bar to see the exact number of respondents.

Chart 4 - IPM TOP 3 PESTS (DATA)

Chart 4 - IPM top 3 PESTS (DATA) provides specific pest data, including the number of survey respondents and the PEST distribution percentage indicating it was in the top three, with the ability to sort by the percentage. Additionally, the chart allows multi-select filtering by course type, region, and specific pests. You can select multiple pests or all to compare their distribution.

Chart 5 - BMPs (GRAPH)

Chart 5 - BMPs, which shows BMPs including IPM and Nutrient Management BMPs. This chart displays best management practices, or BMPs, including integrated pest management and nutrient management. To review a specific BMP, select the BMP type. The chart shows the results for each indicated best management practice; this is how many people responded that they have that BMP implemented at their golf course. The chart is color coded based on region. This is an interactive chart; deselect certain regions to review the specifics of the BMPs implemented. You can also use the multiselect dropdowns above to review.

Chart 6 - BMPs (DATA)

Chart 6 - BMPs displays data on the implementation of BMPs ncluding Integrated Pest Management, or IPM, and Nutrient Management BMPs, and the numbers represent survey responses indicating whether each BMP was implemented. If for example the percent is 80% it indicates 80% of survey respondents have implemented the BMP. The chart data can be filtered by BMP type, region, and course ownership. At the end of your instructions, also this chart is interactive to sort as appliccable.

Chart 7 - BMPs (PERCENT PARTICIPATING)

Chart 7, BMPs Percent Participating: 1. Start by choosing a BMP type: IPM Summary, Nutrient Management Summary or another BMP as applicable. 2. The bar chart displays the percentage of courses who indicated they have a the listed BMP implemented. 3. The filters are interactive, so if you'd like to select a specific BMP or sort the chart, you can.

Chart 8 - BMPs (TOTAL BMPs IMPLEMENTED ]

Chart 8 - BMPs shows the number of BMPs implemented as a percentage. For example, 10% of courses have 5 or BMPs implemented. 15% have six implemented and 17% have seven implemented. If for example 5% have 3 or less you can infer that 95% of courses have four or more of the selected BMPs implemented. There are 7 BMP types so you need to select including IPM or nutrient summary, then search to see the results. You can see also if you want to say how many people have five implemented you just select that as well on the multiselect BMP option

Chart 9 - NUTRIENT APPLICATION QUANTITY (GRAPH)

Chart 9 -Nutrient Application Quantity graph, displays nutrient data for golf courses in New York. 1. **Select Data Type**: Choose which individual or multiple nutrient data you want to visualize by selecting from the “Data Type” options. These include extrapolated pounds applied of nitrogen, potassium, or phosphorus as well as acres, and reduction quantities for both pounds and acres. 2. **Choose Extrapolation Method**: In the “Extrapolation Method” section, you can choose how the data is extrapolated (there are 8 available). If you select multiple methods, the percentage will be correct, but you will need to divide the amount by the number of extrapolation methods selected to get an accurate value. 3. **Apply Filters**: Narrow down your data by using the region and ownership type filters. 4. **Search**: After choosing your parameters, click “Search”. 5. **View Results:** View the pie chart for a visual representation of the distribution.

Chart 10 - NUTRIENT APPLICATION QUANTITY (DATA)

Chart 10 - Nutrient Application Quantity. This provides a full account of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, as well as total acres fertilized for golf courses, nutrient reduction and maintained vs total acres. Also shown is a listing in the pivot table of all available extrapolation methods, of which there are up to eight which were weighted based on total courses, 18-hole equivalent, total facilities, etc. The surveys use a mean imputation and ratio extrapolation. Drill down by selecting the drill-down + option to see the applicable data by region. The chart can be filtered above by region, ownership type, or data type to drill down for further analysis.

Chart 10.5 - NUTRIENT APPLICATION QUANTITY PER 1KSF (DATA)

Chart 10.5 - Nutrient Application Quantity. The chart can be filtered above by region, ownership type to drill down for further analysis. Application quantities by Course AREA was not part of the survey, however total acres where nutrients were applied was asked - that data was used to calculate pounds per 1K SF.

Chart 11 - WATER USE (DATA)

Chart 11 - Water Usage. This provides course water use and water source. Water use includes breakouts for both irrigation and total facility as well as irrigated acres by AREA. Also shown is a listing in the pivot table of all available extrapolation methods, of which there are up to six which were weighted based on total courses, 18-hole equivalent, total facilities, etc. The surveys use a mean imputation and ratio extrapolation. Drill down by selecting the drill-down + option to see the applicable data by region. The chart can be filtered above by region, ownership type, or data type to drill down for further analysis.
